The smooth start HVLS fan in our DCHVLS PMSM range is engineered so the large 7.3 m rotor accelerates and decelerates gently, without the jerk that stresses conventional geared fans at switch-on and switch-off. The variable-frequency controller feeds the gearless permanent-magnet synchronous motor a sine-wave output, which ramps torque up progressively rather than applying full line voltage to a cold rotor. The same drive includes our unique speed-tracking restart technology: after a brief interruption, the fan accelerates smoothly from its present speed instead of forcing the whole heavy rotor through a violent stop-and-start cycle. A stepped motor shaft - larger at the bottom, smaller at the top - acts as an anti-drop safety feature, and double-row angular-contact bearings with enamel-coated pure copper windings stay aligned across thousands of soft starts and stops. The result is a large-fan installation that protects both the drive train and whatever is suspended or stored beneath it.
